USING THE CHARTS

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR HD FISHING CHARTS

Never insert your chart into any device other than a compatible unit.

Make sure the Genesis Live/Structure overlay on your primary menu is set to OFF when using the FishTec charts in your unit. 

If you are not on the dam, use the “Navionics” chart source to first locate the approximate location of the dam and zoom in to the area (Follow Step 1 & Step 2 below).  If you are already on the dam, then start with Step 2.

STEP 1

  • Power up the unit
  • Select the PAGES Button
  • Select CHART   (A base map appears)
  • Put your cursor on South Africa
  • Select MORE OPTIONS
  • Select CHART SOURCE
  • Select NAVIONICS (Back button)
  • Zoom in on the Navionics map to the approximate location of the dam you want to view, and zoom in to that area.
  • Insert your FishTec chart card into the unit.
  • Set “Orientation” to NORTH UP

STEP 2

  • Put the FishTec chart card into the unit.  Wait….”Loading charts”.
  • Select ‘YES’ to any pop-ups.
  • You should see the chart name/s in white on your screen in the area where the dam is or a black square.  Zoom in.
  • Select MORE OPTIONS
  • Select CHART SOURCE
  • Choose the CHART SOURCE you want to view – ie. Satellite, Sediment, UltraHF, Contours, etc. (Back button)
  • Select MORE OPTIONS, CHART OPTIONS, PHOTO OVERLAY
  • Set PHOTO OVERLAY onto FULL  (Back button)
  • The last two steps (CHART OPTIONS / PHOTO OVERLAY) need to be repeated when you view each chart source – ie. UltraHF, Satellite, Contours, etc. –  each time you put your chart card into your unit.

Experiment with “CHART OPTIONS” and “Categories” by turning line, point, bottom composition, depth area, etc., on or off to see the different overlay options on your chart source.
